Born in the hills of Laventille, Trinidad & Tobago, and forged from the ingenuity and determination of a people finding beauty in adversity, the steel pan holds the unique distinction of being the only acoustic instrument invented in the 20th century. By bringing steel pan workshops into the heart of our community, we are opening doors to a living, breathing cultural heritage, inviting residents of all backgrounds to fall in love with an art form that has already made its home in London's vibrant festival scene, most famously at the Notting Hill Carnival.

For this amazing series of Pan Workshops we will be partnering with New Generation Steel Orchestra. Central to our vision is a commitment to NOURISH the next generation. Our workshops will be designed to be accessible and inspiring for young people, giving them the opportunity to discover a creative tradition that may reflect their own heritage or open a window into someone else's. By placing the community members at the centre of this experience, as learners, performers and cultural ambassadors, we are nurturing their creativity and strengthening their sense of place within their community. This project will consist of 6 Pan sessions 5 workshops and 1 perfomance.

Disclaimer: Skateboarding: Urban Sports or Extreme Sports as it is otherwise known always comes with a number of injury risks, and skateboarding is no different. The same injury risk goes for all other mainstream competitive team sports, the primary difference with skateboarding is the risk of injury can be higher depending on your goals as a skater and most of the injuries sustained over the time skateboarding will not be inflicted by anyone else so rest assured. Safety is our primary concern so during our sessions it is imperative that all learners wear all of the safety equipment provided at all times and follow the instruction of the tutors, although this will not remove the risk of injury it will significantly reduce the number and level of injuries sustained. Engaging in this activity will be undertaken at your own risk. In the event of an injury it will be treated where possible, logged and you shall be informed on collection, in the event of a serious injury you will be contacted at the nearest opportunity. By checking the box I (we) am (are) hereby declaring that I (we) have read, understood, accepted and agreed to the above text and accept the risks associated with Urban Sports (skateboarding or inline skating) mentioned above. I (we) am (are) also providing my (our) consent for Urban Studio Sessions and Michael Mapp Photography taking photographs and videos of my (our) child(ren) within the club setting and at our events. These images and data collected will be shared will be for use as unique data and content advertising for our services and events images and videos will be post to our social media accounts (twitter, facebook, instagram, linked in), further online use will include being posted on our website and on various parent sites and forums and to funders and partners. We reserve the right to display them on leaflets, business cards and posters when applicable and in print, local press, publications and videos will be displayed at our events along with on our social media accounts and external promotional websites. We will not use images of your child in conjunction with their name if named purposes are required. We will use a name that is different from your child’s real name, unless we have you consent otherwise.
