We are elated to announce an amazing new project for the London Borough of Culture 2025 made possible by funds from the A.E.L.T. Wimbledon Foundation. We present Echoes of the Windrush in partnership with Flo Vortex, we invite you to embark on a poetic journey through the generations from Windrush to present.

This is an intergenerational poetry and spoken project spanning 12 week we will engage 3 key generations from the original Windrushers, the 1st Generation to be born here, to the 2nd/3rd to exist here our aim is to explore the hopes, aspirations, desires, experiences and realities of each generation through poetic verse and spoken word each participant from each generation will be guided be our expert guest poet/songwriter to create their own piece of poetry or spoken word piece. Once complete we will be making a selection of the most emotive and enlightening pieces to be produced for recital or audio\visual screening at our final night. Date TBC.

We have 36 places available, 12 places for each generation so that would be 12 Windrushers, 12 1st Gen and 12 2nd/3rd Gen. This project will consist of 12 weeks of creative writing workshops launching at Battersea Library on Monday 15th September 2025 5:45 - 7:45pm. You will be guided by an award winning U.K. Singer songwriter with global acclaim to explore your story and experiences and help you craft them into poetic expression through weekly sessions.
